Word for Today.........Work in Progress

Scripture:  Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.  Phil 1:6

WIP...........

While studying Cost Accounting in college, there was a term for any goods that were not considered a final product, but was to be accounted for because funds had already been invested in to its production.  That term was WIP, or Work in Progress

We are God's WIP.  He has made a great investment in each of us and is completing us day by day and hour by hour.  We are God's workmanship and as the bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  God has begun the glorious work in us and no matter how unfinished you look, God isn't through with you yet.  There is a song that I used to hear a while back, that said, "Please be patient with me God is not through with me yet."

Wherever this good work begun it is of God’s beginning: He has begun a good work in you. We could not begin it ourselves.  If God who begins the good work did not undertake the carrying on and finishing of it, it would lie for ever unfinished. But He never starts something and leaves it unfinished.  He will perform it who began it.  We must be confident, that God not only will not forsake, but that he will finish and crown the work of his own hands. For, as for God, his work is perfect.

God is not finished with me......that is what we have to say to ourselves, when it seems that we aren't quite there yet.  When the devil beats us up for not making 100% every day, we have to look at the unfinished product and realize that God is still at work.  Don't be discouraged or dismayed, you are a WORK IN PROGRESS.

Word for Today.......Exchanges are always welcome!

Scripture:   To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.  Isa 61:3

EXCHANGES, EXCHANGES!!!!

I am a passionate shopper.  I like to shop for just about anything.  However, when I shop for clothes I seldom try them on.  The problem with this practice is that many times the garments don't fit; either too small or too large.  Now few stores will allow me to return the items and get a FULL refund of my money, although many times by the time I return the items I no longer want it.  But most stores will allow exchanges for equal or lesser value, although they require to know the reason for the exchange.

The word exchange is the act of giving something in return for something else.  This is what God does for us.  Here Isaiah comforts us and gives us the heart of God.  Isaiah in verses 1 and 2 talks about Jesus and gives reference to Jesus.  Jesus fulfilled the first 2 verses in the New Testament while teaching in the snyague.  Jesus is still fulfilling this scripture with us every day.  He is ready for us to trade with him.  It was never His intentions for us to carry our sorrow, our grief or our burdens.  But we MUST give it up in order to receive what He has for us.  The bible says for us to CAST (throw) our cares upon him for he cares for us.  Now He doesn't leave us empty handed after we have cast our burdens away.  He in turn gives us beauty for our grief filled ashes, the oil of joy for our sorrowful mourning and the garment of praise for our burdensome heaviness.  God's purpose for this exchange is so that he might ge glorified in us.  We are the trees of righteousness, planted in hold soil by an awesome God.  Martha Munizzi said it best in her song, "This is the great exchange."

Word for Today............It's not what it looks like

Scripture:  And Elisha prayed, and said, "Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.  And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.  2 Kings 6:17

the Lord opened the eyes of the young man and he SAW!!!!

Elisha was a prophet of God who gave counsel to the king of Israel on whether or not to fight a particular enemy.  Well, the Syrians waged war against Israel and the king of Syria sent a large army of fighters to overtake Elisha because he counseled the king of Israel and told him all of the Syrians hiding places.  When the servants of Elisha saw the host of Syrians they became afraid.  Just like we do!  We become afraid that things aren't turning out the way we planned or that our enemy, the devil, will consume us.  However, Elisha told his servants that although there were a great host of enemies, there was more for them than were against them.  WHAT!! Was he crazy!  Now it seemed stupid to say that Elisha had more men on his winning team, because there were only a few of them in the valley with him and the Syrians had a great NUMBER.  To the naked eyes, it seemed that they were going to be devoured and taking out, but Elisha had eyes that saw not as ordinary men see.  He saw in the spirit, beyond his natural eyes or instincts.

We are facing many enemies and it seems to our natural eyes that we are in the valley alone.  But I pray today that God will open your spiritual eyes to see that he is with you.  The word of the Lord declares that if God be for us, He is more than the WHOLE world against us.  So take courage and know that God has sent you a heavenly host to fight for you, just like he did for Elisha and his servants.  Our trials and afflictions aren't going to bring us down, for God will fight for us and it may look hopeless, but SEE what God sees and SAY what he said.  For He said that He would be with us ALWAYS!!!

Word for Today....A Blessing from My Enemy

Scripture:  Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and shalt still prevail.  1 Samuel 26:25

David had been anointed king and Saul, who was the current king, was UPSET!!  So much so, that he declared that he would kill David no matter what the cost.  However, David had a chance to render to Saul the death sentence Saul wanted for David.  But David didn't follow his carnal mind, but instead spared Saul's life.  Even when David's companion wanted to kill Saul, David said that it was not HIS job to do harm to anyone whom God had anointed.....WHOA!!!!!  (I hear you thinking)  Yes, Saul was FULL of the devil, but at one time in his life he was anointed.  See that is the thing that we have to remember that God's anointed is still God's anointed.  It isn't our jobs or duties to seek and execute vengeance on those we think are no longer anointed or maybe actually have step out of fellowship with God.  GOD will take care of those who are disobedient.  David wrote in the 27 chapter of Psalms and verse 2 that God would deliver him and cause his enemies to stumble even when they would attempt to overtake him. (I am paraphrasing)   Because of his pure heart, Saul was "forced" to pronounce a blessing upon David.  So even when our enemies try to bring us down, they are just setting us up for a greater blessing.  God said the He would make our enemies our footstool.
David also declared in Psalms 27: 3a, "though an host (of enemies) should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear."  There is no reason to fear our enemies, the only thing that God ask of us is that we maintain our integrity and steadfastness to Him.  For the Word of the Lord constantly reminds us that there is NO weapon that is formed that shall prosper.  And I believe that if God is for us, WHO can stand against us!  A wise woman told me once not to be distracted because of my enemies.  And I tell you today that they are only being used to set us up for greatness and God will MAKE our enemies "behave".

Have A Blessed Day!

Word for Today: Waiting on the Lord.......

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.  Isa 40:31

Wait upon the Lord.......

Wait, is a simple word with only one syllable.  However, it is one of the most powerful words when it comes to receiving the things of God.  Many times we quote this scripture with passion......I’ve done it too!  We focus our attention on the fact that we are going to fly high in the sky and we will be strong, but what we must focus on is not the wings as eagles, or the running without being weary, or even the walking without fainting.  The thing that we must focus on is "WAIT UPON THE LORD."  In today's world this is almost impossible to use the word wait without someone giving you a look of disgust.  No one wants to wait or even has the time to wait.  But if we are to receive the promises of God, we must LEARN the "art" of waiting.  I have come to realize that waiting is not about being idle.  In Webster's dictionary, the word wait means "being and remaining ready and available for use."  There lies our problem.  Many times if our answers don't come quick enough, we think that God has left us on hold, so to speak, and we think He needs our help.  The devil will tell us during the waiting period, that God has forgot about us and will try bring discouragement to us.  But David said in Psalms 27:14, "Wait on the Lord and be of good courage and he will strengthen you heart, wait I said on the Lord."  God knew that we would be grow tired of waiting and that is when His word encourages us that after we waited will soar as eagles and run like the cheetah's and walk without becoming tired and frustrated.  There is a reward for waiting.  Be encouraged and know that waiting is not time wasted, but time for development.

Have A Blessed Day!

Word for Today: Stand Still......

Scripture:  Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, not be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you. 2 Chr 20:17

Set yourselves, stand still, and see.....

King Jehosphat had a great multitude of his enemies that decided to plot together against him and his kingdom.  But the king didn't go hide or cry about his trouble, the bible says that he began to seek God.  That is what we fail to do many times when we are going thru and our enemies have rose up against us.  Instead of telling it to God, we tell our friends and neighbors or anyone else who will listen.  But Jehosphat told God and then waited on God to tell him what to do.  There was in the midst of the king a singer and who was anointed by God to deliver the message of hope to the king and all the children of Israel.  He told them that they didn't even have to fight THIS particular battle, but that God would fight for them.  I believe that there are some battles that we HAVE to fight and God has given us the weaponry to do so. We war in the spirit nonetheless.  However, sometimes God just wants us to be obedient and get in the mode of victory.  Then be still, don't get out of place and wait on God to move for you.  Now it won't be easy to be still, so God told them to not to fear or be dismayed for the He was with them and would deliver them from their enemies.  The next thing they did is they just started praising the Lord for deliverance and salvation.  There may be some things in your life that you have come to a point that you NEED God more than ever.  As humans, we always tend to want to get involved and to give God a helping hand. But this battle is not YOURS, so just start praising him and don't get afraid or dismayed.  There is a song that our church choir use to sing, although we don't sing very often because of one choir member who will start shouting and dancing every time we start the song...you know who you are.  Nevertheless, the song says, "Get up, step back and watch God move."
