Word for Today.....SANCTIFICATION!

Scripture:  For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:  I Thess 4:3

SANCTIFICATION!

Nowadays, that seems to be a dirty word in the church.  People don’t like to deal with or talk about being sanctified.  But we keep saying that we want GOD’S will to be done in our lives.

I believe it is not a question of whether God is willing to sanctify us; is it our will to be sanctified?  Are we willing to allow God to do what is necessary in us that we can be used for his purpose and glory.  The first order of business in being sanctified is YOU removing those things that are not the WILL of God for your life.  I truly believe that there are some things that we just SHOULDN’T do.  FORNICATION & ADULTERY are a few of those things.  Sanctification involves more than a mere moral reformation of character, brought about by the power of the truth: it is the work of the Holy Ghost bringing the whole nature more and more under the influences of the new righteous principles of God.  In other words, sanctification is the carrying on to perfection the work begun in regeneration, and it extends to the whole man.   Sanctification means to be set apart for a specific and special use.  That is what God wants to do with us, but we must be sanctified FIRST!!!  We cannot and will NEVER be used as long as we are not willing to be sanctified.  To be sanctified doesn’t mean that I have the “look” of being holy and sanctified, but that I have the HEART and all that is included with having a HEART for God.

Let's deal with the latter part of this verse.  It is sad to say but, many Christian churches and ministries don’t like to deal with issues that are associated with fornication; like teen/unwed mothers, premarital sex, sexual transmitted disease and such.  As if these issued don’t apply to the church.  Well, apparently they do!  Paul told the Thessalonian church that the will of God for them was that they be sanctified, but this will only come through the denial of the flesh.  We must realized that God wants us to be one with him.  Sanctification is the part of the process that makes us one with Him.  Just as Paul taught, we must be found guilty of telling people that the will of God and your sanctification is dependent on one person: YOU!  For the bible says to sanctify yourself and the very God of peace will sanctify you WHOLLY.  You do your part and God will definitely do His part.

Word for Today......His Strength, Our Weakness

Scripture:    And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.  Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.  II Cor. 12:9

My (God's) strength is made perfect...

Wow!  It is wonderful to know that we don't have to be strong, because the grace of God is sufficient.  But wait!  What does sufficient mean?  The dictionary says that the word sufficient is a quantity that CAN fulfill a need or requirement without being abundant.  That gives us the understanding that God's grace is enough, without adding our stuff in to the mix.  Paul had asked God 3 times to remove a thorn that a messenger from Satan had given him.  But instead of doing exactly what Paul prayed for those 3 times, God told Paul that His grace for ENOUGH!   That he didn't need anything else to get the job He had planned for his life.  WHY?  Because when we are weak, God's strength is perfected in us.  It is already perfect, but it can't become perfect in us unless we embrace and admit that we are weak and helpless with God.  Many times we think that we are these Super-Christians, but God isn't looking for those people.  He is looking for someone to say, "God I am not excellent, but because You are excellent I can do all things by and through Your grace."  That is all!  We don't have to be the best at anything or everything, but along as we admit that we are weak and allow God's grace to be made perfect is us.  We can declare that we can do all things THRU Christ that strengths us.  Jesus understands our weaknesses and he knows our needs and not only will He strengthen us, but he will glorify Himself in the process.  That is how Paul could glory in the infirmities.  Who wouldn't?  If God can get glory from our weakness, why not let him.

Word for Today.........Walking with God?

Scripture:  And Enoch walked with God... Gen 5:24a

Are we walking with God or is God walking with us?

That is the question we have to ponder today.  Many of us want God to walk with us.  We even sing the old song, "Walk with me Lord."  But let's look at it.  Do we really want God to walk with us, or do we want to walk with him?  Walking with God involves us laying down our thinking, our ideas, and our way of doing things.  A test of a man's relationship with God is not measured in those exceptional moments of greatness, but in the every walk.  Our walk determines true godliness with God.   The ungodly and profane are without God in the world, they walk contrary to him: but the godly walk with God, which gives us understanding of the reconciliation extended to us by Jesus Christ.  To God gives the ideology of our agreement with him; for two cannot walk together except they are agreed.  To walk with God is to live a life of communion with God both in church and outside the church.  It is to make God’s word our guide and his glory our ultimate goal in all our actions. It is to comply with his will, to adjust our lives with his righteous designs, and to be workers together with him.  It is good that we give God our hand as we have been taught in times past, but are you allowing him to lead or do you want him to follow?  Well, the answer is simply.  If he isn't leading, he definitely won't follow.  So the thing for us to do is to allow God to lead us and walk with Him, by allowing him to be the tour-guide and director of our life.  We must set our heart, mind and soul to Him and say that where he leads me, I will follow.  For although our way may seem like a valley of the shadow of death, if we remain focused on his guidance we will soon be by the still waters where refreshing can take place.

Word for Today..............More Than Conquerors!!

Scripture:  Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  Romans 8:37

More than Conquerors!!!

When I think about conquerors my mind begins to wander back to Medieval Times when there were gladiators.  The gladiators would take over complete nations and/or kingdoms.  So, was this what Paul was referring to?  Could be.  Paul asked the Romans a question in the previous verses, which was "Who would separate us from the love of God."  Furthermore, when he started to list the "Who's" it wasn't a list of who's at all.  I would have expected to have a list of people who were against these people: like Brother Bobby is talking against you, or Sis. Mary is trying to pull you out.  However, it was a list of what we would call the things of our Christian lives, but Paul says, "Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?  But what God has reveal to me is that many times the "Who's" of our life will produce those things in order to hinder God's plan for us.  But Paul says who will you let use those things against you and cause you to be removed from the presence and will of God.  MY ANSWER TO THE QUESTION IS NO ONE!

I am so glad that Paul doesn't leave us with all that, but he reveals to us that we not only can fight back.  We are MORE than conquerors through Jesus Christ and we win.  The love of Christ reaches and pulls us through our tribulations, our distresses, our persecutions and all the other things that we think we won't make it out of.  When we are feeling like no one cares or that we are in this alone, the love of God embraces us and tells us that we can conqueror the "Who's".  We are not only the gladiators/conquerors in God's kingdom; we are MORE than that because HE is more than that.  He told us that we would have to suffer as Christ suffered, but we would not be alone.  He has sent his love to pull us through, but only if you can stand the pull.

Word for Today.........Tarry or Not Tarry?

Scripture:  For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:  though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  Hab 2:3

Though it tarry....it will not tarry.

WHAT!!!!!  The first time I read this verse of scripture I was new in my walk with God and I thought well that seems to be a contradiction.  However, as I grew in God and begin to understand who God was and that His ways are not our ways.  I have come to understand that although man is "wrapped and enveloped" in time, God is not!  The bible says that there is a time and season for everything under the sun.  We are the time and God is the season.  God takes the seasons of our life and brings it together with the time.  We must know that God's season don't align themselves with our time, but our time must align itself with God's season.

So we have been given a word from God that our loved one will be saved, our broken home will be mended, our finances will be straighten.  But WHEN????  That is the question we often times ask God.  And all of a sudden the scripture tells us to wait even if it tarries, it will not tarry.  The point is that God has already sent your answer, but because His godly answers are not enveloped in our time frame, we must know that the vision or word that God has spoken will NOT lie!  It may be that you are facing something in your life that it seems that what you see is not the vision of loveliness that you have believed for.  BUT JUST WAIT FOR IT!  Though it seems to tarry, it is already in process.  Many times like Daniel, we have prayed and sought God but our answers are being held up by the enemy.  When the messenger angel which carried Daniels answer got to him, he told him that his answer had been released when you prayed but an enemy tried to stop the answer from reaching him.  That is just what the devil tries to do with our vision.  He wants you to get discouraged and stop believing and confessing that your vision will come to pass.  THOUGH IT TARRIES, IT WILL NOT TARRY!  God is releasing your vision today, just wait the appointed time will come!  God is not a man that he should lie, neither the son of man that he should repent, hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?????  HE WILL DO JUST WHAT HE SAID!!!!!!

Be Blessed!
