Word for Today....Are YOU an Isaac?

Scripture:    And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?  Gen 22:7

Where is the lamb for the burnt offering?

Abraham had been given a son of promise, but then was told to go and offer him up as a sacrifice to God.  The bible says that Abraham didn’t hesitate, but gathered his servants, the wood, the fire, the knife and his son and did as God commanded.  I understand that the scripture text shows Abraham’s faith and trust in God, but let’s look at Isaac’s willingness as well.

Contrary to what most people believe about this text, Isaac was NOT a small child; just willing to obey his father.  He was actually around 25 or 26 years old.  He had thoughts, dreams, aspirations and an OPINION.  But when his father asked him to follow him to the mountain of God to offer a sacrifice; he just did it.  He didn’t know at the time that HE was the sacrifice.  He could have been like some of our youth are today: HARDHEADED, REBELLIOUS and DISRESPECTFUL.  But he honored his father and was willing to do whatever his father asked.  It wasn’t until the two of them got to the mountain with the knife, the wood and the fire that Isaac finally asked, “where is the sacrifice?”  Abraham didn’t tell him the HE was the sacrifice, but instead told him that GOD would provide HIMSELF a lamb.  When they got to the place where Abraham was to offer Isaac, he bound his son and laid him on the altar.  Isaac didn’t fight back or try to run away from being the sacrifice, but was willing to be offered up.

Isaac represents obedience and self-sacrifice.  How many of us are willing to be offered as sacrifices to God?  Hebrews 12:1 says that WE should offer our bodies as living sacrifices unto God, which is our reasonable service.  It is what we OUGHT to do.  So in essence we should stand as an "Abraham"; willing to let go of EVERYTHING that we might please God and an "Isaac."  We, as modern day Isaacs, must be obedient to God and be willing to be the sacrifice for God.  God is searching for someone that he can show HIMSELF.  He wants a sacrifice, that will climb up on the altar of obedience and say, “Lord not my will, but thine be done."

ARE THERE ANY ISAACS’ OUT THERE!!!!!!!

Be Blessed!!!!

Word for Today....Striving Together in Prayer

Scripture:   Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me.  Rom 15:30

STRIVE TOGETHER WITH ME IN YOUR PRAYERS...

Let discuss prayer and what prayer REALLY is about.  Prayer is communicating WITH God and as Webster's dictionary says, a reverent petition, or adoration, or thanksgiving to a deity especially to God.  So in other words, prayer is communicating with God as a means of petitioning, showing love, and thanksgiving.   Prayer is communicating with God and as Webster's dictionary says, a reverent petition, or adoration, or thanksgiving to a deity especially to God.  So in other words, prayer is communicating with God as a means of petitioning, showing love, and thanksgiving.

Here Apostle Paul began to request for the people of Romans to pray for him and they should STRIVE TOGETHER in prayer.  WHY? What about striving together would make those prayers more effective.  The bible says that the effectual, fervent prayers of THE righteous availeth much.  It doesn't say the prayers of A righteous...now don't get deep and start to think that I am saying that your personal prayers are ineffective.  NOT AT ALL!  But think about how much more effective our prayers would be if when we stand together in prayer.  In the Old Testament, when the people were attempting to build the tower of Babel so as to reach to heaven, the bible says that God confused them lest they SUCCEEDWOW!!! Look at what unity will do.  If we look at prayer in that same unified way, we CAN and WILL reach the throne room of God.  Many times when I have been praying about something and it seemed that my prayers were bouncing off the ceiling.  I have been led to call that person with who I KNOW will strive TOGETHER in prayer with me.

In the latter verses, Paul tells them the reason for his request, which was because he had a job to do for God and he knew it wasn't going to be easy.  But if he could get SOMEONE, ANYONE to pray with him and for him he knew that God would strengthen him to do the task set before him.  We, like Paul, need someone to stand with us in prayer.  Now don't get me wrong, there is no WELFARE in God's prayer system, but the bibles admonished us to pray one for the other.  God's people and God's ministries are constantly under attack.  Satan doesn't sit idly by while his kingdom is plundered.  But those on the front line can't fight alone.  Everyone can help, by "joining the struggle" and praying for them.  In Leviticus 26:8 it says, "And five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand to flight, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword."   When we bind together in prayer we cancel more of Satan's assignments and his kingdom WILL come down.

I know that I truly need your prayers for protection, for power and for wisdom.  Others are in need of similar prayers.  So, don't forget to pray for one another, it is the most valuable gift you can give.

Be Blessed!
