Word for Today.......Head, shoulders, knees and toes!

Scripture:   For the body is not one member, but many.  1 Cor 12:14

One body…many members.

Many of you know my testimony about how God healed me from cancer.  But what you may not know is that I was told that I had gallbladder disease and had my gallbladder removed about 12 years ago.   At first the doctors said the disease was the reason I was experiencing the severe pains in my stomach.  However, they later learned that I had cancer.  Nonetheless, I had my gallbladder removed BEFORE they figured out it WASN’T my gallbladder after all.  The reason for this story is simple; I was told that I didn’t NEED my gallbladder (which is why my attempts to sue the doctors failed).   I thought, “How can a MAN tell me I don’t need what GOD has carefully placed in my body.”  Not having a gallbladder certainly didn't kill me, but it did create some other problems that I still deal with on a daily basis.  Medically speaking, the gallbladder is not a vital organ, but it is a very useful organ.  The gallbladder is a small organ that lives under the liver.  The purpose of the gallbladder is to collect and store bile or waste until it is released into the small intestines.  Its only job is to store the bile and push it into the small intestines.  This may not seem important but it is.  Why is this important?  Because without a gallbladder any waste from the liver goes directly to the small intestines and causes the liver and/or the small intestines to work overtime.  NOT NEEDED?   How wrong those doctors were!!  As a result there are many foods that I can’t eat without having problems with my digestive system.

Paul was so passionate about the members of the body of Christ being one with Him.  He stated in later verses that even the feeble members of the body were necessary.  All who have the spirit of Christ are the members of Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free.  No matter the level in Christ, everyone is important and make up the body.  Many times the older we get in God, we tend to belittle the newer Christians as not being AS important as we are.  Perhaps we have been elevated in title or position.  This doesn’t mean that the members that have no title aren’t important.  Paul lets EVERYONE know that there is not one member of the body that isn’t needed and important and all the members of Christ make up the body.  There are many members, but there is one body and one source which is Christ Jesus.  Each member has its particular purpose, place, and use.  The most seemingly insignificant member is still a part of the body. The fingernails and eyebrows are less useful, perhaps, than the hand and eye; but because one is not a hand, and the other an eye, can they say that they do not belong to the body?  NOT SO!!!  Herein lies a lesson to us all: Everyone is important to the body of Christ!!

Be Blessed!
