Word for Today....Preparing the way for the Glory!

Scripture:   The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight and the rough places plain: and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.  Isa 40:3-5

Prepare ye the way of the Lord…..and the glory of the Lord SHALL be revealed.

God is committed and has vowed to bring his glory to us.  We talk about, we sing about, we shout about and if you are like me you have preached about it.  But what are we DOING about it!!!  Many of us aren’t ready to see the glory of God, just at the people in Jesus’ day were not ready to see Jesus revealed as the son of God.  They taught about the coming of Christ and how he would deliver them and save them, but when He came they were not unprepared.

Here in the scripture Isaiah describes the ministry of John the Baptist, who was the forerunner for and prepared the way for glory of the Messiah to be revealed ON the earth.  Now God wants us to prepare the way, so that His glory can be revealed IN the earth.  John was one voice placed in the wilderness that cried “Prepare the way of the Lord”.  Many of us, like John have been placed in a wilderness.  Don’t get upset or dismayed.  In order to produce a voice it requires the solitude and forsakenness of the wilderness.  The wilderness is a place of aloneness, of imposed confinement, of personal inconvenience, of social persecution, of unfriendly surroundings.  It is the place where God meets with chosen people. Think about Moses, Elijah, Elisha and Jesus, all of these people were placed or “led” to the wilderness.  Many times God leads us into the wilderness to equip us with a voice for this generation, not an echo of what someone else said or what we have heard, but to speak as a sounding board for God.  In the wilderness He will give us a message that will prepare His people for His glory.  The wilderness is the place where God gives us a message that is formed from life experiences with Him rather than library experiences.

Just as John was ONE voice crying in the wilderness, we must understand that you must go to “the wilderness” by yourself.  There won’t be anybody there to rescue or hold you.  There is nobody to cry to, but God.  There is nobody else but you and God.  To give you a voice, God must snuff out all the other voices, so you can hear His voice alone.  That is why your friends have walked away.  That is why you feel like you don’t belong.  God has you alone in the wilderness so that He can mentor you and groom you.  Yes, the journey is long and tedious.  That is why the scripture says one “crying”.  It won’t be a cake walk preparing for the glory of God, but it is worth it.  We MUST prepare our hearts, our minds, our spirits in prayer, so that the glory of the Lord will be revealed.  And according to the scriptures ALL flesh (saint and sinner) will see it TOGETHER!!!!  WHEW!!!  Some sinner is waiting to see what the REAL glory of God looks like, not the pre-packaged glory we present during Sunday morning service.  Some saint is feeling like giving up and is saying, “There has to be more to God than what I have right now.”  They want to see the TRUE and LVING God and His glory.

What are you doing to prepare the way for God's glory to be revealed?

Word for Today....The String on Your Finger

Scripture:   For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.  Habakkuk 2:3

Write the vision…wait for it….because it will surely come.

Have you ever had an appointment or something that you needed to remember to do?  When I was younger, before anyone ever thought that you could have a handheld office assistant, people would tie a string around their finger to remind them that something important needed to be done.  It was a reminder to them, so that when they looked at the string it would trigger a memory of something important.

We have been given an appointment with God and the vision and promises that He has placed in us.   Many of our promises have yet to see come to pass and our appointments seem a long way off.  Along the way we may have forgotten what God told us about us or the devil may have told us that it won’t happen for us or through us.  It may seem like the vision, appointments or promises will never come and your season of waiting is long.  HAVE YOU WRITTEN THE PROMISES DOWN?  If so, go back and remind yourself what God has said to you.    If not, what do you have that will remind you of what God has shown and/or told you?

John, the revelator, had a vision of the New Jerusalem, he was ordered to write it.  He wrote it not only for himself, but for those who would come after him so they could see what God had promised.  Now it is up to us to wait for the accomplishment of the vision.  "The vision is yet for an appointed time"The bible says there is a time and season for everything under the sun and that includes our visions, our appointments and our promises.  But we must hold fast to the profession of our faith, without wavering or doubting.  There is an appointed or fixed time, and although the vision is delayed it hasn't been denied and it will SURELY come.

God has an appointed time, and He will be sure to do the work when the time comes.  He is well able to complete the work that He has started and bring to manifestation the vision/promise that He has given.  We don’t always understand God’s timing and neither can we determine His appointments, but it is our job to wait for the promise.  David said to wait on the Lord and be of good courage.  It takes great strength and encouragement to wait with patience, that, though the promise be deferred long, it will come at last.  And not only will the vision come and not tarry, but will bring an abundant recompense, or bonus reward, to us for our waiting patiently.  It is like waiting for your refund check from the IRS and after weeks of waiting you received the check; however, the amount of the check is more than you had anticipated?  That is what God does for us.  He will give us a bonus just for waiting patiently.  The bible says that God is not slack concerning his promises, as some men count slackness.  If He said it, he will surely do it and if he spoke, or showed, it to you he will make it good.
Have a Blessed Day!
